Muse, an upholstery textile collection that celebrates the power of women, is the first product collaboration by V Starr, the South Florida design firm founded by tennis champion Venus Williams. The collection’s three award-winning patterns are a juxtaposition of the softness classically associated with femininity and the fierce underlying qualities of perseverance, strength, and commitment.
Multiple rounds of hand-drawn artwork went back and forth between Williams and V Starr Principal Sonya Haffey, and Wolf-Gordon CCO Marybeth Shaw and textile designer Kathrin Hagge, to arrive at three uplifting patterns: Elena, Frida and Ora. Named for women that the V Starr team admires, the designs use a series of motifs that reference and celebrate female strength. In a nod to unity and camaraderie among women worldwide, each of the collection’s color names include the pronouns “her”, “us”, or “we”, as in Heather, Blush, and Seaweed, among others.
