Each year at this time, kids put on their backpacks and many of us, regardless of age, dream up new projects for ourselves. We’re celebrating the return to learning and new experiences by highlighting four exciting educational interiors that have been designed to delight with engaging color and nature-inspired pattern and texture, as well as exceptional performance.
Early Childhood

Westside Early Childhood Learning Center is a pre-K school for children aged three to five. Remarkably, this comprehensive facility comprises twelve classrooms, four consultation rooms, a multi-purpose space, a cafeteria and on-site, a full-service kitchen, an indoor and outdoor playground, a courtyard/outdoor classroom, an indoor activity space, a library, and an exterior garden! BBCO selected high-performance RAMPART wall protection in the Grain pattern to work with natural materials throughout the Learning Center and to ensure the long-lasting beautiful condition of its heavily trafficked and played-in spaces.
Elementary

When Schiller Park School District decided to build a new elementary school, it prioritized the creation of innovative, collaborative spaces for flexible, 21st-century learning. Washington Elementary by DLA Architects delivered with a Learning Neighborhoods concept: central community spaces are surrounded by four homerooms. The neighborhoods are distinguished by their geometric shapes and color identities, which Wolf-Gordon’s Scuffmaster paints, ScrubTough eggshell, in particular, helped to define. DLA chose easily cleanable Scuffmaster instead of FRL wall protection for walls and nooks to maintain continuous color and to protect walls from frequent contact, i.e., dirt and scuff marks.
Middle School-High School

Poudre District Middle-High School fosters a vibrant learning community through shared indoor-outdoor spaces and state-of-the-art facilities. The Building’s Concept Statement is “Connected to Nature”, which is evident with the one-acre secure outdoor “Learning Park” serving as the central focal point for the school. It was important to honor a more natural material palette allowing the changing Colorado seasons to aide in giving its own “color” to the building interiors. Taking budget, installation, maintenance, and durability into consideration pointed the designers toward RAMPART flexible wall protection. According to Shannon Sudemeier, Director of Design, “RAMPART® Grain was the perfect alternative, offering the warmth of wood with a much easier installation and great durability, especially for serpentine wall surfaces.”

This state-of-the-art facility in an award-winning Northern Colorado school district features RAMPART flexible wall protection in the 6th Grade Wing. RAMPART was selected because RB+B needed an attractive solution to cover up the existing glazed block. After installing drywall over the glazed block, RAMPART went up without a hitch.
