DTYP 479
Nuanced shades, geometric shapes: this is Colorform. Designed with education and healthcare settings in mind, these three new digitally-printed wallcoverings from Janie Rochfort of Betty Larkin Design Studio and Ghislaine Viñas introduce curving lines and surprising contours, abstracted mountainscapes, and a nontraditional play on a traditional plaid.
Designed by Janie Rochfort, founder of Betty Larkin Design Studio, Summit is an uplifting pattern of different perspectives on an abstracted mountainscape, expressed through clear and harmonious color combinations. Summit can be used as a mural or repeated out to fill an entire room or corridor.
Also from Betty Larkin’s Janie Rochfort, Typo borrows the geometry and sharp curves of letterforms, juxtaposing shapes and lines in a cheerfully composed but well-balanced jumble. This colorful digitally-printed mural layers planes of “transparent” color to create a range of hues across its three colorways, adding an element of fun to an interior.
Inspired by the dynamic graphic nature of tartans and the endless possibilities offered by their intersecting bands and stripes, Ghislaine Viñas’s latest wallcovering design is a fresh, funky spin on a traditional plaid. Mad Plaider whimsically defamiliarizes the classic form with stripes composed of different colors and geometric rhythms, which intersect and parallel each other to create micro-patterns. This wild plaid can inject some playfulness into an institutional setting, whether a school or university.
