Watercolor
According to author and art theorist Rudolf Arnheim, abstract art is defined as “a visual language of shape, form, color and line to create a composition which may exist with a degree of independence from visual references in the world.”
Watercolor exemplifies this, capturing the spontaneity and looseness of a watercolor painting. As with any abstract art, the pattern is open to interpretation.
There is a directional movement to the amorphous shapes that calls to mind a flowing stream, with watercolor washes that gradate from dense layering to sparse across each panel.
